Listening

“Nothing so effectually hinders hearing God’s voice as opening the heart too much to other voices. A heart too deeply interested in the news, the literature, and the society of this world cannot hear the divine voice. It needs stillness, retirement, and concentration to give God the heed He claims.” Andrew Murray, from the book ‘The Holiest of All’

This is something that I’ll be planning on doing this summer, God willing. More on that, shortly.

For my own benefit, I should probably extend Andrew Murray’s words to include voices from the Internet (not intended as a criticism of your blog, Peter, but rather the time I spend on the Internet when I could be reading God’s Word and praying).

Amen. Jeremiah 33:3 reminds us that the infinite wisdom of God is far above all of the rhetorical wranglings and slaanted reporting of this world. We need time to just be still and listen to what the Spirit is saying.

    Blessings always in Jesus.

    And also to you Timbob.

The internet is a dangerous thing, Warren 😉
