Holyhocks

Holyhocks?! Yes, Holyhocks. Permit me a blog diversion as I bring you a few pictures of these superb plants growing in our garden; coincidentally proving at the same time that Canada does have a summer.

Holyhock 1

Holyhock 2

Holyhock 3

Thank you for your toleration of these little diversions. 😉

How nice! I’m trying to grow them too, but mine are barely a foot high at the moment. They also had a bad experience with some Japanese beetles last month, which might have slowed them down. I hope they can get some flowers before our all-too-short Canadian summer comes to an end.

Last year they didn’t amount to much, but this year they’re going great guns. Currently over 6 foot, probably they’ll get to 8 foot. My wife thinks there should be a variety of colours, but I really like the deep maroon.

Up later this year, the vegetable garden 🙂
