The eagles cry!

The eagles are crying! Church, wake up! Do not go to your own destruction, willingly complicit in your own enslavement.

The Lord who birthed you, brought you to life cries, ‘Return, return to me my beloved – I bought you with a price beyond your conception, why exchange it for the putrid stench of rotting meat? Why exchange it for worthless trinklets, a base image of satanic debauchery? Wake, wake, I call you to wake!’

The eagles are crying again, the Lord of all Heaven and Earth has called them forth. The eagles cry, return, return to your first love! Listen, while there is still time, and hear from Him who sits on the throne and holds the world in His balance.

Just sitting around waiting for a phone call I was leafing through a dusty book ( Why civilizations self destruct by Pendell) when I came across, “The pilgrims were separatists who disapproved of the easy going Anglican Church.” All I could think of Peter was how little has changed over the centuries. And to top it off while some are threatening to leave the church again for its easy going ways these pilgrims are heading for Africa just as the originals headed for America. History may not repeat but it sure rhymes.

And so we cry Peter, though many or none may heed the clarion call to Return, to awaken to run to their first love. Still we cry, as cry you must lest blood be on your hands.
Bless you for your obedience and faithfulness to lift your voice as a watchman on the wall. It is not unseen and will not be unrewarded by the One who sees and knows all.

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement; even now the story gets deeper and there will be much to share when we return. The blessings of the Lord Jesus to you and your family! You are going with us and will be held often in our prayers.
Do Keep in touch, and don’t forget; I am still waiting for that picture! 🙂

Jesus love and blessings to you,

    Susan

Greetings. A most needful warning as we live in an age when a “form of godliness” has run amock. This is the topic of a future post, but the church at Ephesus made that ever so subtle shift from following their first love to being overcharged by mechanics. Anyone who would have visited them would have noted their zeal, their doctrinal purity, and all of the things that one makes note of when visiting another fellowship. Yet somewhere, a shifting had taken place; a shifting that wasn’t noticable on the surface but was a condition in the heart.
Thanks for the encouragement to always examne ourselves to ensure that we don’t do the same. It’s all too easy to get caught up in a “program” until it consumes us.

Have a blessed day in Christ.

white rabbit – the world is the world, and is not our home!

Susan – Thank you – and bless you in your travels!

Timbob – Ah yes, the program church – often an attempt to do in the flesh what can only be achieved by the Spirit.

    Blessings,

    Peter

Of course the world is our home Peter. Not only will the “meek inherit the earth” (Math 5:5) but Jesus also ordered us “to occupy till I come.” (Luke 19:13). Planet Earth is God’s gift to his people and as such we are not going anyplace but here. Why else would the king come back to get his inheritance?
True we are not to be concerned about the world as a way of life opposed to Jesus but if Christians did as they were bid there would be no Caesar for us “to give unto Caesar.”
But I think that as you used the term eagle you suspect as much. Jesus was replying to a question from his disciples regarding when he would return and in Mathew 24 and Luke 17 he gave the signs of the time of his return. Luke talked of a body and Matthew a carcase.
Symbols in scripture never change. So if one can find where the symbol of the eagle was established in scripture and one was certain what the body/carcase Jesus was referring to then the answer would come into sight and by Peter being inspired to use the term the eagle indicates he is on the right track.

As you say, the world I was talking about was the world system, the spirit of the age. The world itself s the Lord’s, by right and by conquest!

    Hosea 8
1 “Put the trumpet to your lips!
An eagle is over the house of the LORD
because the people have broken my covenant
    and rebelled against my law.
2 Israel cries out to me,
‘O our God, we acknowledge you!’
    3 But Israel has rejected what is good;
    an enemy will pursue him.

    Revelation 12 v14:
The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.

I grew up near Plymouth, Mass. The pilgrims, as White Rabbit said were trying to maintain Biblical standards. But their spriitual descendants became Unitarians and Ucc, and have betrayed their heritage. What wouldthe pilgrims do if they could see what happened totheir legacy?
