Sometimes I hear people saying that judgment is coming. But have we ever considered that perhaps it is already here?
It wasn’t just to the church in Laodicea that this was written:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, “I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.” But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so that you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so that you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so that you can see.Revelation 3 v 14-18
We are indeed blind if we do not to see it – the supposed riches and imaginary fine clothes of our culture actually cover a naked emaciated frame. How long is it since the Lord has said to us as a people – ‘your will be done’? And what a hell we have made with that untrammeled will!
So do not ask when judgment will come. It is already here, and has been for quite some time. Perhaps it will reach its end game soon, when even the most blind amongst us will start to grope towards understanding.
The truth is, any direct judgment would be a mercy and kindness in such a land.
A Mercy Judgment, if you will.
