OK, it’s probably best I get this out of my system in one go. Never let it be said that Canada is the only country enshrining political correctness. It’s just as bad, if not worse at home. From here.
LONDON, January 16, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A court ruling last week concluded that British Airways (BA) did not engage in unlawful discrimination when it suspended an employee for refusing to hide a cross necklace while at work, even though symbols of other religions are permitted.
In October 2006, Nadia Eweida, a Christian who works at the British Airways check-in counter at Heathrow Airport in London, was told that she must either cover up or remove a necklace depicting a small cross. Eweida was placed on unpaid leave when she refused to conceal the cross. British Airways allows employees of other religions, such as Islam and Hinduism, to wear faith-related items, including clothing, jewelry, and religious markings.
When the case originally hit the press in 2006, BA drew criticism from the Church of England, the Vatican and even from Christians leaders in Africa. British politicians and some church leaders threatened to boycott BA, and the Church of England threatened to to sell its £6.6 million worth of BA shares, until BA said it would review the policy.
Eweida lost her initial suit against the company but won an injunction on appeal in the Reading Employment Tribunal. However, in last Tuesday’s ruling in the case, Eweida v. British Airways, the court ruled the airline can continue to prohibit Eweida from visibly wearing her cross. The court concluded that other types of religious symbols, such as turbans, bangles, and other religious markings are unable to be concealed and are therefore acceptable.
The Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) which provided funding for Eweida’s case against the airline, will appeal the ruling.
“Christian employees should not be singled out for discrimination. This decision will be appealed,” said ADF Chief Counsel Benjamin Bull. “According to British Airways, it’s okay for employees to wear a symbol of their faith unless it’s a Christian cross. The airline took no action against employees of other religions who wore jewelry or symbols of their religion. That type of intolerance is inconsistent with the values of civilized communities around the world.”
“No Christian should be forced to hide her faith in the workplace, particularly when a double-standard exists targeting only Christians for discriminatory treatment. This case should be of particular interest to the American customers of British Airways who understand and value religious liberty,” concluded Bull.
There’s lots more where that came from too. I wonder, could we see this as ‘a’ great falling away, or ‘the’ great falling away? Things to ponder. Anyway, I will change tack and get that community post up soon…..
Hi Peter,
No this is not the great falling away. This is persecution. The great falling away comes towards the end of time when Christians abandon the church. Persecution is when Christians are picked on for being a Christian. Unfortunately the article did not mention the religion of the judge; but then Brits, like other Westerners want multi-cult so now they can live with it. I’ll let you ponder the situation as I pour myself a whiskey and sit back and watch the show. I was cut down years ago and now I don’t know whether to laugh or cry as the net widens. It’s like Mark Steyn, twenty years too late and a dollar short.

Speaking of Nuremburg why was the young girl Irma Grese hung anyway?

Irma was hung for war crimes at Ravensbrck, Bergen-Belsen, and Auschwitz. Horrific stuff.

I am sure she was Dan but what exactly were the crimes that this auxiliary committed.
What is a war crime anyway? I know that bombing civilians isn’t a war crime. And now I here that Sylvia Stolz, the attorney who defended Ernst Zundel against charges of “Holocaust Denial” has herself been sentenced to prison in Germany for the “crime” of being a “fanatic anti-semite.” A lawyer jailed for defending a prisoner? (Hey, maybe we can jail the lawyers that defend murderers and rapists too)Our whole Christian civilization is going off the rails and we need to return to that Faith with its objective ensemble of truths rather than todays subjective feel good twaddle. We also need to return to our absolute truths and away from todays relative truths. We can’t keep adapting our truth to history, we must return to our ancient immutable dogmas
PS I’m impressed that you knew the name.
Cheers

From what little I know I think she [Irma] was condemned for torture [she enjoyed whipping people to death], she would shoot prisoners without any precipitating factors to inspire fear and terror, some charges may have included types of sexual violation; but I have no idea what that entailed. To read some of the things she was accused of is not for the faint of heart.
WR, I agree. Chrisitanity will have more and more limits placed upon it as time goes on. Thought Crimes are real these days and Christians will be main targets which is why they [thought crimes] were approved in the first place. We cannot find our security in politics or cultural acceptance but only in Christ. I agree that we cannot adapt our truth to history and that we need to stick with the ancient teachings and dogmas. Good points.
In Christ, Dan

Greetings. Indeed these are the strangest of times and we know that the world is being prepared to usher in and accept the man of sin. Such accounts as this one involving British airways only highlights the fact that this conditioning is nearing completion.
It’s always a blessing to stop by here. Have a blessed day in Jesus.

Now then, I didn’t need to reply, I see you’re all doing quite well without me 😉
Actually white rabbit, I was looking at this as persecution on account of a great falling away, just probably didn’t put it too well…
Blessings one and all!

Thanks for playing along Dan. Irma Grese, the most notorious SS guard at Aushwitz; even though that the SS did not allow women to join, (unlike us jolly old Anglicans) not only whipped Jews to death she skinned three of them. Not bad for an 18 year old postal clerk who was also allowed to work in the camp commanders garden and sometimes even take the roll call in section C.
She was such an evil woman that Sgt O’hare and Cpl Smith were court marshalled for refusing to walk her to the gallows. The hangman, Ronald Cook, refused an order to hang her and went home and shot himself. But this postal clerk was a clever girl, able to order SS guards around and get their guns to shoot the occasional prisoner.
Although the established media would have us peons believe that Pierpoint hung her Irma’s two M.P.s revealed the truth when in 1978 they said that a local Jewish hangman, Samuel Luntzheim was brought in. Unexpectedly. he miscalculated and she took three minutes to suffocate to death. The main prosecution witness recanted and said that she had lied as three others did too although the rest of the band stuck to their stories.
I only mention this because Christians can only be targets if we are uninformed and refuse to help ourselves( What time is the rapture anyway?) . Perhaps it is too late for national repentance but I am sure that an individual or two could learn the lessons of the Bible and survive what is to come.
