Nest week (yes, it really is that soon), I’m off to General Synod, to report on what is going on there from the Anglican Essentials perspective.
The picture I was given the other day spoke of a modern army tank brigade setting off for the battle, armed and armoured – against a stronghold of the enemy. Now, what was impressed upon me is that any modern army requires copious amounts of fuel – think gallons per mile rather than miles per gallon!
This fuel is essential to be able to manouever, flank, attack or retreat! A tank brigade without fuel is a sorry sight indeed – you may be armed and armoured but nevertheless you cannot do anything.
Put simply, our fuel is prayer. Without it we will not be able to function. Truth be told, I have a serious antipathy to this time. Moving in the prophetic seems to make it harder when standing against the kind of evil rampant in the Church. You are open in a way that burns, both outwardly and inwardly.
So, we need you! You might not be on the front lines in this particular battle, but nontheless you are essential. Apathy and indifference are two of the sleep drugs our enemy will love to slip into our drink.
Be sober, alert and aware, and please be our fuel trucks!!

Sorry Peter, as I re-read what I wrote I realized it was way too cryptic. What I was not so simply saying is that by the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ, I will undergird you in prayer during this difficult time.

You have it Peter – and how. We have special prayer meetings set up in Kingston and each day will be held up by individuals in prayer. We had J.I. Packer at St. James last night speaking on the Trinity and the church was packed with people of all denominations – the Spirit was there. I don’t know what will happen but the enemy will not win whatever decisions are made. I personally want a decision one way or the over so this battle will be over and we can move on and build His Church.

Greetings. This is a great analogy. One cannot overstate the incredible amount of fuel required for effective manuvering during combat. I’m keeping you in prayer also.

May the grace, mercy, peace and joy of the Lord be your strength and sustain you,
May His Spirit give you a deeper revelation and understanding of what is happening from His perspective, seeing behind the scenes and may you have wisdom to know what to do with what you are shown.
May you ever and increasing measure have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
The burden of the prophetic can be heavy, may our love, the love of Jesus Christ, and our prayers, lighten the load.

I was thinking as I read this how costly fuel is nowadays. I become keenly aware as I pull my pick-up up to the pump each week. 🙂
Those gallons and gallons per mile of prayer needed are “dear” and precious indeed! If only we could explain to those who do not see the value of their prayers that not one “drop” is ever wasted.
I’ll be encouraging others to help fill your tanks with copious amounts of fuel, Pete.
