If anybody doubted what we are struggling against, the following quote from Canadian Archbishop Ted Scott should prove illuminating:
“If we are to be the church in the world, then we cannot ignore the force of secular cultural pressures in decision-making., and it is at least as powerful as scripture and tradition. It is the channel ā the spirit of the age ā through which the Holy Spirit is trying to say something to the church. It cannot simply be dismissed, whether opponents like it or not”
Yes, you did read that correctly.

It sounds like what He is clearly promoting is not our being the church “in” the world, but rather, our becoming the church “of” the world.
No surprise here I guess, except that it continues to come forth so obviously and to be clearly stated, in black and white.
There is so very much more to come, as they, those who genuinely are reflecting the spirit of this age, grow in their being clearly controlled and dominated by this very spirit that seems to increasingly dominate this very age in which we live.
When you can be jailed for simply handing out Bibles to anyone who wants them (Florida), or face felony charges (for up to 47 yrs) for repeating the scriptures and what they say regarding Homosexuality to others, out loud, publicly (Philadelphia) and grandmothers can be arrested for witnessing to others on the public street (Philadelphia), it is no wonder that national church leaders can say these kinds of things, for all of this is not only a sign of the times in which we live, but also a sign of the spirit of the age.
We need to awaken to the truth of what is going on around us, discerning the times and rising up in prayer, faith and hope, preparing for what is ahead, right before us, even now, while we still can.

wow – Strong words. Unfortunately some will read them and think he is progressive and forward thinking and that his thought needs to be embraced. At least it’s revealing though.

Greetings. WOW! I know that such statements shouldn’t catch us off guard as these are perilous times, but still…WOW! I can’t help but wonder why so many saints fail to see the closeness of the hour. The coming together of a global governing entity complete with its own form of religion designed to “make merchandise” using feined words in a user-friendly format.
Tonight, on his radio broadcast, Steve Quayle was talking about the time when the saints will have to exit the worlds system. Not conform to it as this man is saying, but to exit completely it’s mechanisms. Thanks for posting this. May any who read this post be awakened as to just how perilous these times are.

The most interesting thing to note about the author of that quote is that Ted Scott was the Primate of Canada some 30 years ago. At that time his vision of the church was seen to be “progressive” and applauded.
The Holy Spirit certainly was trying to speak to us at that time but we misinterpreted the message and married the spirit of the age. We forgot we are to be in the world, not of it. We fight an old and ancient battle present in every age. I am thankful for prophets like you, Pete, who call us back to our “first love”.
